Abstract

The study of world classic literature is not only necessary for intellectual expansion at the literary level, but also it is important for the development of a nation's intellect. It broadens the vision; but the language of one region is different from other that's why translation is used for this purpose. Basically, translated text is not a creation but it is an art to picking up the point of creator and to transfer it to a target language from source language. Hence the role of translator is very clear. This article focuses on comparing of Urdu translations of the short story "The necklace" written by Maupassant. This comparison is made in the context of the realism of Maupassant. Which shows the importance of translation from the original language.
