Abstract

Shaikh Abdul Haqq Mohaddis Dehlwi was an alim(scholar)and well-known Sufi. He wrote many books on different topics. But Sufism(spiritualism) was the center of his interest. It reflects in all his writings. Especially Sufi Tazkirats (Biography of Sufis (Mystical people) writing was his main hobby. He wrote three Tazkirats. The first of that is Ak̲h̲bār al-Ak̲h̲yār which contains Hindustani Sufis’ (The pious peoples) biographies from the 13th to 16th century AD about 272 tazkirats. The second one is Zad-ul-Muttaqueen Fi Sulook Tareeq-ul-Yaqeen.This book comprises three chapters; the first and Second chapters are on Shaikh Ali Muttaqui’s and Shaikh Abdul-Wahab Muttaqui’s biographies respectively and the third chapter is about the Sufis who migrated from different parts of the world to Harmain Sharifain (The two sacred cities, Makkah and Madinah-Tul-Munawwara) and settled there. this part of the book contains about 34 Sufis biographies and about 10 biographies of Majazeebs. The third taz̠kirāt that is written by Shaikh Abdul Haq Mohaddis Dehlvi was named Anwar-Jaliyyah-fi-ahwal Mashaikh al-Shazliya(انوار الجلیۃ فی احوال مشائخ الشاذلیۃ). It contains about 75 biographies of Sufis of Silsila Qadriya Shazliya. This article Studies critically the art of taz̠kirāt written by Shaikh Abdul-Haq Mohadith Dehlvis.
