Abstract

Allama Iqbal is a universal poet. His poetry, thoughts and philosophy were appreciated during his life and were translated in different languages. The first great man who introduced Allama Iqbal in Arabic is Abdul-Wahab Azaam who was born in an Egyptian region shobak. He got his elementary education from the school of his father and got his higher education from Al-Azhar University Egypt. He worked as an Egyptian ambassador in England. Later in Saudi-Arabia and then in Pakistan he was appointed as an Egyptian ambassador in 1950. During his diplomatic life from 1950-1954. He translated the Persian books of Allama Iqbal and wrote an Arabic book in his morality. He was much impressed by Allama Iqbal and is the first man who introduced him in Arabic. Abdul Wahab Azaam is the first translated who also met Allama Iqbal and formally took permission for translation and introduced Iqbal to the Arab cleries or intellectuals. This great writer of muslim ummah died of heart attack on 18th Jannaury 1959 in Saudi Arabia. His body was taken to Egypt. He was buried in the Egyptian city Halwan in front of his house near the masjid. he is the first Arab who became the first interpreter and got acquaintance of iqbal first and then wrote his biography. this article covers introduction of Dr Abdul Wahab Azzam, his meeting with allama iqbal, his translation, and features of his translations.
