Abstract

The scholarly and literary greatness of Golra Sharif has been proven by the time.Peer Mehr Ali Shah established the literary tradition at "Khanqah Golra" which continues for over a century. It is the fifth generation of Golra Sharif associated  with poetry and literature. The scholars of Golra Sharif have written in various genres of poetry.Writing the virtues and honour of one's elders (Manaqib) is an old tradition in poetry, especially in Sufi poetry. Sufis of Chishti order are exemplary in this genre, and the same tradition is prominent in the work of Golra Sharif's poetry. They are more inclined towards "manaqaib" as it is special field of their interest. While monasteries (Khanqahs), in general, are considered like autumn with regards to poetry and literary traditions but in the garden of Golra, it has bloomed into spring.Pir Moeen ul Din Gilani, known as Lala Ji, Pir Nasir Gilani, Pir Moeen ul Haq, Jami Gilani, and Hammad Sadiq have written "Manaqaib" of various personalities. The "Manaqib" of Golra Sharif's scholars shows a colorful array of themes and artistic maturity. By witnessing the "Manaqib" of Golra Sharif's scholars, Khanqah Golra Sharif can be aptly described as a garden of poetry and literature
