Abstract

In the current century, the Arabic novel has become widespread, surpassing other literary arts such as poetry and asserting its dominance in the realm of literature. Despite the abundance of novelistic production in the twenty-first century, propelled by the digital revolution, the prolific output of cinematic productions, the availability of electronic books, the abundance of translated literature, and substantial literary awards, the Arabic novel remains relatively weak compared to its counterparts in advanced countries. While significant and noteworthy Arabic novels have emerged, the genre still lags behind its counterparts on the global stage. Novels have become the Arab publications that receive the most extensive number of evaluations and reviews on specialized book platforms, indicating their popularity. However, this popularity coincides with the weakness or near absence of critical discourse, which has affected the quality of novelistic production. There is a flourishing quantity-wise but a fluctuating quality-wise aspect to the literary output. In the modern era, the Arabic novel has succumbed to the prevalence of colloquial patterns in literature, leading to a proliferation of novels in spoken language. This shift has influenced the reader's taste and the evaluation standards of literature. In this brief research, I will examine two aspects that have an impact on the transformations of narrative discourse: Firstly: The economic influence on the transformations of narrative discourse. Secondly: The influence of social reality on contemporary narrative discourse transformations.
