Abstract
The tradition of reasoning from Arabic literature in Tafsir Qur'an began with the Companions, may Allah be pleased with them. The Companions, may Allah be pleased with them, used to use Arabic poetry and literature to determine the meaning of the Qur'anic words. Hazrat Umar Farooq (RA) not only remembered many verses of Jahiliyyah, but also used to reason from them in the explanation of Quranic words.
In this research, examples of reasoning from Arabic literature have been mentioned from some well-known commentaries of the Arabic language, from which it is clear as day that the chain of reasoning and reasoning from Arabic literature in the Tafsir of the Qur'an was during the time of the Companions. Starting from Humayun, it has been growing gradually.
