Abstract

To differentiate between good and bad is the basic trait of human beings. Man appreciates well and abhors evil. This expression of displeasure goes on to turn into resistance. Social evils destroy the beauty of the society and cause agitation among the members of the society. This is the reason why people record their agitation against these evils in various forms. If this agitation manifests itself in the form of literature, it is known as literary resistance. There has been a tradition of resistive literature in world literature. The period in which Urdu literature came into being was a period of turmoil and moral decay. This is the reason why the very essence of Urdu literature has been resistive from the very beginning. In Urdu literature, a rich source of resistance has been cumulated in both prose and poetry. Since the situation remained the same after the partition of India, the tradition of resistance continued. The socio-political disparities in Pakistan have shown the way of resistance to Urdu literature produced here.
