Abstract
The study of abrogating and abrogated verses (Nasikh and Mansukh) in the Quran is a significant and often debated aspect of Quranic exegesis. Recognizing these verses is crucial for accurate interpretation of the Quran. Scholars have varied opinions regarding the number of abrogated verses. Shah Waliullah Muhaddith Dehlvi asserts that there are only five abrogated verses, though he acknowledges disputes over some. Imam Jalaluddin Al-Suyuti and Imam ibn Arabi, on the other hand, identify twenty-one verses as abrogated. Meanwhile, Allama Zarqani suggests that the number is eight. This abstract aims to explore these differing perspectives and the criteria used by scholars to identify Nasikh and Mansukh verses. Understanding these differences is essential for a comprehensive and precise interpretation of the Quranic text. The study will also examine the methodologies employed by scholars to discern the abrogated verses, shedding light on the complexities and nuances of this theological issue.
