Abstract

Scholars and researchers have made it clear in their books that the script of the Holy Qur'an is forbidden and it is necessary to follow the Ottoman script for its writing. The questions arise in the mind of a person who studies this subject are: What is the definition of scriptural knowledge and what is its subject and benefit? What is the difference between ritual and pronunciation? What is the knowledge of Quranic calligraphy? What is the script of the present-day Qur'anic manuscripts? What is the difference between ritual and letter? What is meant by Mushaf-e-Imam, Mushaf-e-Uthmani and Musahaf-e-Uthmaniya? What is the reason for name “Mushaf-e-Imam”? When did the dots and Arabs begin on Mushaf-e-Othmani? Which are the ancient and basic books on ritual of the Qur'an? And which is the most comprehensive and detailed book on the ritual of the Qur'an?

Therefore, it is important for a researcher to know the history of the ritual of the Qur'an and its brief introduction. Here we should also mention that most of the publishers of the Holy Qur'an did not adapt the Ottoman custom in the writing of several words of the Qur'an, but saw a common version and followed it, due to which the custom was used in one version after another. There is a lack of conformity with the Ottomans. We have written this research article so that people can have some awareness about the Ottoman custom and follow it according to the Mushaf-e-Uthmani and its rules so that no difference can be seen in the writing of the words whose script is agreed upon.

In this research paper, we will give some introduction to the Qur'anic script and historical facts about it, and we will also provide the answers to the previously mentioned questions with references and also mention some important basic books for further study in this regard. So that it is easy to get detailed information.
