An investigation of student’s perception regarding career orientation in secondary schools at Tehsil Chakwal

Abstract

The study aims to explore the perception of secondary school students in the tehsil Chakwal about future career. Students at very early stage of their study should be aware of their talent and orientation regarding their future career. Hundreds and thousands of students fail to opt their studies and career as per their aptitude. This situation of career counseling is grave at school levels. After secondary exams the students have to pick and choose their field of study as there are many but there are immense chances of selecting the wrong field. Hence, this study focuses on the perception of the learners. As a research method descriptive case study and open ended questionnaire was designed that is interpreted and explained under the heading of data analysis. Therefore, this study is pure qualitative study in nature researcher used cross sectional survey method applying descriptive case study on fifteen students from different schools. Researcher applied triangulation technique using three instrument qualitative questionnaires, descriptive interviews and observation for collecting data. The finding of this study reveal that majority of students are not clear about their future goals. There is too lack of career guidance in tehsil chakwal. Therefore in order to have a bright future of our youth we must improve quality of career guidance and also held career developing seminars in this Area.
