Abstract

The Quran is a comprehensive guide to life, essential in providing guidance and direction across all epochs. Fulfilling its dictates is inseparable from acts of worship. The Quran encompasses both general principles and detailed narratives, necessitating elaboration. Therefore, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) elucidated its details. In his designated role, he included explanations and clarifications of the Quran's teachings. It is the duty of the Muslim community to make Quranic education universally accessible in every era. Accordingly, scholars authored exegeses to elucidate and interpret its overall and specific, general and particular meanings according to their capacities. Through diverse linguistic expressions and methodologies tailored to individual tastes, authors served the Quran in various languages. Special methodologies and styles have been adopted to articulate the sciences of the Quran, one such notable work being "Ulum al-Quran" by Allama Gohar Rahman. This book employs various styles such as fluency, simplicity, scholarly and literary finesse, rhetoric and oratory, and logical and evangelical approaches, distinguishing it from other works on the sciences of the Quran. Its argumentative methodologies cite the Quran, Hadith, sayings of the companions and successors, lexicons, poetic genres, pedagogical strategies, marginal annotations, introductions to chapters, and virtues of verses and chapters, assigning it a unique position among Quranic exegeses.
