Abstract
Now a days alcohol is widely used in cosmetics as preservative, compulsory ingredient, vehicle etc. Cosmetics mode of enhance appearance and take care of bodies. The ancient Greeks, the Egyptians and the Romans were all familiar with makeup and beauty items and they used them either to protect their skin or to accentuate their features. Fast forward a few thousand years and cosmetics are more popular than ever. Things changed a lot in the beauty industry over the years. While manufacturing cosmetics items alcohol is used extensively as vehicle but as we know that Islam declares all sedative as illegal while alcohol is a major sedative. Besides the prohibition of Alcohol in Islam, Islam also considers the protecting of human wealth among fundamental human rights. Hence human needs of protection Islamic principles of legal, illegal, pure and impure (Halal and Haram) pump into each other. The flexibility of Islamic jurisprudence allows to find the solution contemporary problems keeping in view the guidelines of Qurn and Sunnah. Therefore, the study of different opinions of Muslims Jurists and Ijtihad of contemporary Islamic Institutions of Collective Ijtihad in this respect is very necessary so that we may find a solution to very important modern problems and determine the factual status of alcoholic cosmetics in Islamic Shariah and guide the Muslim society, cosmetic companies and cosmetic dealers.
