Abstract
T.S Eliot’s ‘The Waste Land’ (1922) is called the most popular and the most influential poem of the twentieth century. With it starts the era of Modernist poetry. Eliot sent the manuscript of the poem to his mentor, Ezra Pound, who made drastic changes in it. After the publication of the poem in 1922, Eliot presented the manuscript to his friend, John Quinn, who died after some months. The manuscript was discovered after four decades, and its facsimile edition was published in 1971. New debates arose after its publication. The present article makes a comparative study between the published poem and the manuscript, edited by Ezra Pound.
