Abstract

It seems strange that it is not the local population of a country that first pays heed to lexicography but the 'other' people, because they were bound to prepare lexicons to understand the language and culture of the inhabitants. The same happened in the Subcontinent. In the present article a review of the Urdu lexicographers of the West has been taken and their contribution in this regard has been analyzed.
