Abstract

Urdu Lexicography is one of the treasurers of Urdu Literature. Urdu Lughaat have a great collection of poetic examples. For example Farhang-e-Aasfia which is first complete dictionary has almost 33000 Poetic examples. Due to the cultivation of Urdu language and Literature in poetic environment, Ameer-ul-leughaat and Noor-ul-Lughaat also have a lot of Poetic examples from classical poetry. The poetry of famous poets reaches the reader through Asnaad-e-Shairi. Reader also gets access to unknown poets. Poetic examples from Farhang-e-Aasfiya, Noor-ul-Lughaat and Ameer-ul-lughaat are quoted to Prove how these examples are helpful in understanding and explaining the meanings of words and phrases.
