Abstract

21^st century Urdu poem depicts many existential themes and issues. The socioeconomic and political conditions of Pakistan in this era put negative effects on individuals and amplified the existential issues in them. Along with these said conditions the other issues of Pakistan like terrorism, suicide attacks, earthquakes, floods, extremism, violence and corona virus played a vital role in enhancing these existential crises. So, the poems written in this era mostly share the existential themes like nothingness, meaninglessness, absurdity, anxiety, fear, dread and alienation.
