Abstract

The concept of unity of the nation is an Islamic concept, the central point of which is to integrate individuality into collectivity. When Hazrat Iqbal thoroughly analyzed European nationality, he came to the conclusion that nationality as a political system is an inhuman system. When he saw its practical results from Europe, he feared that this sentiment was very dangerous for Islamic countries. When the Arab countries helped the British against the Turks, it became clear to him that this trick was effective. After long study and observation, Iqbal came to the conclusion that patriotism is the stepping stone to the unity of the nation. So he explained the corruptions, ugliness, and consequences of the concept of nationality and clarified the concept of nation.

Although Allama Muhammad Iqbal was a believer in geographical and national nationality in his early days, he was also its propagator. His words, “Hundi hum watan he sara jahan hamara” are proof of this. Later, during his educational journey to Europe, he made a deep study of the conditions of Europe and analyzed all aspects of nationality. Its corruptions, ugliness, and bad effects came to light. Later, a comparative analytical study of the concepts of Islam changed the direction of his thinking. The vehemence with which he rejected and refuted the negation of modern nationality in India is his specialty. This concept became the basic point of the concept of Pakistan. Most of his poems, prose, letters, articles, essays, and sermons are there to explain, interpret, criticize, and interpret this concept.
