Abstract

This study focuses on the jurisprudential contributions of Imam Al-Shatibi, particularly through the lens of his theory of Maqasid al-Shariah (objectives of Islamic law). Imam Al-Shatibi, a renowned scholar of Islamic jurisprudence, is celebrated for his pioneering work in defining and elaborating the goals and purposes of Shariah. This research investigates his unique approach to the theory of Maqasid, exploring how he articulated the objectives of Islamic law and how these objectives inform legal reasoning and decision-making. By analyzing Imam Al-Shatibi's seminal work, *Al-Muwafaqat*, the study delves into his principles regarding the preservation of religion, life, intellect, lineage, and property. It examines how his theoretical framework addresses contemporary legal issues and influences modern Islamic legal thought. This specialized study aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of Imam Al-Shatibi's impact on jurisprudential theory, emphasizing his contribution to the development of a purposive approach in Islamic law and its practical applications in addressing evolving legal and social challenges.
