Abstract

This article presents the development of Urdu language and Literature in North America Continent. In the 1^st Decade of the 20^th century many people migrated from the Subcontinent to North America, especially in Canada and U.S.A. In fact, these immigrants open the door of Urdu in North America. Many of the people took initiatives and started some associations, organizations and Anjuman to resolve the problems of Indo Pak community and to enhance the worth of their language, literature and civilization. Different people took great steps and started their Radio and T.V channels in Urdu which was a very good addition in Urdu journalism. Due to the efforts of many Urdu lovers it became very flourishing language and started its journey of development in North America. Voice of America Urdu Transmission, Family Radio, UN Radio, Radio Hum Safar, Radio Pakistan, CINA Radio, Punj Radio, Radio WMC, Chin Radio and Radio Zindagi played a very important role by establishing Urdu transmission and programs. International Urdu Forum, Halqa e Arbab e Zauq, Karwan e Fikr o Fun, Urdu Markaz, Urdu Society, Ghalib Academy, PSAA, and APNA etc are some of the well known societies which are working with full zeal and zest.
