The lifestyle of rural Muslims and Sikhs in Punjab has been almost the same, the only difference being between religion and religious festivals. Being Punjabi, these two nations have many common values.

’’Night, Thief and Moon‘‘is an important resistance and cultural novel by Balwant Singh. This novel also reflects the Sikh civilization. The novel deals with the family rivalry and enmity of the Sikhs. Although Balwant Singh appears nationalist in his novels’’Ckak Piran Ka Jass ‘‘and’’Night, Thief and Moon ‘‘he has portrayed the life of every person living in the villages of Punjab. He has also portrayed Punjabi girls in his novels. In his novels, he mentions Bombay and Calcutta as symbols of British colonialism. He described the life in Bombay as ruder than the rural life in Punjab. Balwant Singh, s Urdu novels are a mirror of Punjab, s rural culture.
