Abstract

Twenty fiirst century's poem depicts great tendencies towards dark shades of death and miseries of mortality. The social, economical and political condition of Pakistan in these last two decades impacted the sense of fear and meaninglessness upon the citizens. Terrorist attacks, suicide bombing, war on terror and natural disasters like floods and earthquakes amplified the theme of death and feeling of being mortal among people, so this fear can be seen in people's daily routine life and writings of this era. Poems written in this era shows great interest in pessimistic themes and fear of death and mortality is one of the major themes of these poems.
