Abstract

In contemporary political and policy studies the debate around the notions of  peace and war has been one of the most urgent ones. The roots of this urgency lie  in the globalscale destruction caused by the two world wars that were followed  by institutionalization of peace building efforts made by the major political actors  in the contemporary world. The quest for perpetual peace is a recent  phenomenon which has emerged alongside weapons of mass destruction.  Although we have seen an increased concern regarding peace, it has been  matched with an ongoing arms race because historically war has been seen as an  ultimate reality that needs to be taken into account, whenever peace is under  discussion. It is time to start a conversation regarding peace as an alternative  rather than a subsidiary phenomenon that is defind in terms of war. This study  focuses on the notion of peace as a social phenomenon which provides the most  effectiveness for the existence of human societies. We will see human society in its  most basic form and its connections with peace and literature. Literature grows  out of life, reacts upon life and fed by life. literature and life of a society reflect  upon eachother. literature reflects the real pattern of any society and peace is a  discource of a better human society.
