Abstract
Folk literature represents the lives of the people living in any region. It covers all aspects of life. Folk literature contains the history, misery and oppression of every age. The relationship between folk literature and history is very deep. Many political and social movements arose in Punjab in the late nineteenth century. Some of them were Hindu, Sikh and Muslim Movements. When the feeling of deprivation among the Muslims became extreme, they formed an organization called the Muslim league in 1906 to fight for their rights. In the movements that started in Punjab during this period, some Hindu fanatical religious organizations were born in Punjab and some outside the Punjab. But they did have an impact on the political and social life of Punjab. These include Rashtriya Sewak Sangh, Hindu Mahasabha, Shuddhi Movement, Bhartiband Movement, Ghadar Party Movement, Khilafat Movement, Khaksar Movement, Hurriyat Kashmir Movement, Ghazi Ilam Din Shaheed etc. But this article sheds light on political movements of Punjab through folk literature.
