Abstract
Journals of educational institutions and organizations are called literary magazines in which editorials, poetry and prose writings are published. In addition to the usual publications of magazines and journals, sometimes special issues/ numbers and special sections are also published which consist of single topic or personality. "The Ravi" is a literary magazine of Government College, Lahore which was started in the year 1906. This magazine is being published continuously in English, Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi Persian script and Gurmukhi. In addition to the regular publication, many special issues and sections of it were also published in Urdu, English and Punjabi languages which are of great importance.
The first forty-five issues of "The Ravi" were normal, while the 46th special issue was a Punjabi issue which was published in May 1912 under the title "May di Ravi". Importantly, this was the first special issue in any language and this is no less than an honor for Punjabi language and literature. A total of ten special issues/ numbers and five sections of "The Ravi" have been published in different periods. This research paper presents a critical review of special ten issues/numbers and five special sections.
