Abstract

The Kings of Southern Hind have played a vital role to highlight the image and growth of Urdu Ghazal. In the poetry of قاضی محمود بحری، ولی دکنی، قلی قطب شاہ، حسن شوقی، نصرتی، عراقی، فخری، فیض دکنی، سراج اورنگ آبادی and شاہ تراب علی, the Islamic culture, civilization, social values and traditions are describing aptly and artistically. برہان الدین جانم، شاہ داول، امین الدین اعلیٰ  and other poets further beautified and consolidated the image of Urdu Ghazal. The poetry of Hassan Shoqi reflects Muslims civilization and religion as well as the freedom and harmony was the dominating factor in the said poetry. In this essay, Dr. Muhammad Ijaz Tabassam has discussed the ideological and cultural background of قلی قطب شاہ، ولی دکنی، سراج and شاہ تراب علی. has also expressed the impact of Islamic civilization on Dakni Urdu Ghazal. In the poetry of قلی قطب شاہ the religious metaphors of Quran, Paradise and Hur as described in the Islamic Civilization given their readers a beautiful environment of intellectual maturity. The Ghazal of ولی دکنی also reflects the Islamic culture and ideology with the special references of religious terminology of Sufism, Quranic verses and Holy Prophet. The background of his poetry is based upon Muslim civilization and religious thoughts. He, on every step, seems to represent Islamic values, civilization and social norms.


The poetry of Southern Part of Hind is found with deep and strong colours of cultural tradition and religion concepts. All poets of Southern Hind without any exception of Hindus or Muslims being their praise with Allah, devotion to Prophet (PBUH) and his family, dignity of his companions as well as the admiration in the honour of kings of the time.
