THE FORMS OF RESISTANCE IN BASHIR SARFI’S POETRY

Abstract

Bashir Sarfi is a poet of seventies. He is known for fournalism and poetry. Since he is ethnically a Kashmiree
therefore his association with Kashmir is a significant element of his poetry. Bashir Sarfi is a multidimensional
poet and has composed poems. Hymns and odes praising prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and Hazrat Ali Besides
other themes the theme of resistance is quite visible in his poetry and it contains all symbols of resistance.
Personal sorrows. Creation of Pakistan and disappointments which followed, migration and roits, lack of
political direction, sense of insecurity, wars between Pakistan and India, the fall of Dakha, imposition of
martial law, deterionation of moral values all over the world because of Scientific advancement, degradation of
man, greed, lust, selfishness, Indian soldies committal of otrocities on Kashmiries are all elements which
contributed to the theme of resistance in Bashir Sarfi’s poetry. Bahir Sarfi considered it his duty to comment on
every event taking place in Pakistan and he did it well.
