HOW IN-SERVICE TEACHERS ARE MOTIVATED TO PURSUE DOCTORALDEGREE
Abstract
There have been numerous studies in recent years on various sorts of teacher is professional development programs.
A few studies looked into the effects of higher education degrees like PhDs on the school performance of teachers.
The main aim of this study was to identify the factor that motivates a teacher, for higher education and its impact on
their professional development. This study explored the teacher perception and experience related to the doctoral
study. NVivo11 was used in managing the answers of respondents. The data were collected through the structured
interview from twenty participants to get t in-depth understanding. Results show that the both personal and
professional factors are very responsible for pursuing doctoral study. The teacher with a PhD degree reported
positive effects of PhD degrees on their professional development.
