The Islam has left no ambiguity that Minorities should be given equal rights by the State which follows Islam.
Fundamental rights were available to the Minorities at equal level. Islam gives full right to profess and practice
religion or faith according to their own choice. Even, they have given special rights to protect their culture and
religion. The Muslim states were bound to protect their place of worship and Minorities were protected from all
types of violence and aggression. The Holy Quran and Prophet Mohammad (SAW) guaranteed a society, where
all citizens of the state enjoy equal rights irrespective of their religion. The issue of rights and duties of
minorities in Islam is one of the crucial importance and value for all Muslims. There is a confusion about the
duties and responsibilities of minorities in Islamic state, as some Non-Muslim historians and researchers have
blamed that Minorities had no equal rights in Islamic states. They were discriminated and had to pay more than
they receive in the form of Jizyah, Khiraj and Ushur. This paper investigates the objections of Non-Muslims
about their duties and responsibilities in Islamic states. This study will also reveal about their status of
citizenship. It also gives an explanation to balance investigation by exploring the felonious and allegations
about implementing laws and regulations towards religious minorities.
