Abstract

The main concern of Ecocriticism is to critique the presentation of nature in literary and cultural texts. Thus the atmosphere of literature has been present in the literary tradition of every region for centuries. However, the ecological perspective of the study of literature has gained special importance in view of the distorted situation of nature in the present age. In the last decade of the last century, regular eco-based literary studies began.Ecocriticism initially used English traditions with different literary backgrounds. In the West, early American and British traditions explained Ecocriticism with the help of various classical texts. Both categories review the works of different writers, poets and fiction writers; with their historical, political, geographical and cultural contexts. This article will outline the American and British categories of environmental criticism.
