Abstract

Faiz Ahmad Faiz was a progressive poet of revolutionary thought who, using symbols and metaphors, adopted a resistance attitude against the ruling class and emperors, as a result of which he had to endure the hardships of imprisonment. Spirituality, romanticism, symbolism, eloquence, dullness and optimism are the salient features of his poetry. Faiz has given new meanings and concepts to the ancient symbols.Technically and literary, symbols are a comprehensive and effective means of organizing and conveying the perception of creative experience because symbols, in addition to their literal meaning, have a series of layers of feelings and literal concepts are hidden inside. When a word becomes a symbol, it expresses its strength in a proper way. In addition, metaphor is a great means of creating meaning and innovation. The use of it in taghazul indicates poetic perfection and where the metaphor ends, the land of symbol begins. In his poetry, he uses various well-known symbols and metaphors such as Qafas, Saba, Rind, Kham o Saghar, Bahaar, Gulshan, Sayyad, Dar o Rasan, Maqtal, Loh o Qalam Firaq and Darban.
