Abstract

Literal meaning of "نگاری خاکہ"in Urdu literature is "Sketch Writing" It is an art of creating personality
character. It is derived from medieval rather it gets its formal roots from the 20th Century with the writing of
"Mirza Farhat Ullah Baig". Dr. Ashfaq Ahmed Virk admired a lot in contemporary sketch writing. His
books ،مستی خاکہ"ستائیاں خود،" ذاتیات ،"دشمنی قلمی"have been published so far. His most powerful tools in
sketch writing are comicalness, funniness and humorous way of illuminating the personality in the
imaginary; that makes him unique among others. If one goes through his sketch writings, can literally feel
the personality and traits of the character. Dr. Ashfaq Ahmed Virk’s sketches are a valuable addition to the
tradition of sketching and undoubtedly he can be considered the best sketch writer due to his charming style,
impartiality and brevity.
