Abstract

Some of the twentieth century poets have tried their level best to make Urdu elegy compatible with the modern day
requirements. These poets include the name of Josh maleeh abadi too. Giving new strength to elegy, josh focused on the
genre of elegy and put efforts by bringing it according to the contemporary needs of the that time. He considers
exploitative forces as the “Lieutenants of Yazid” and terming it as “ A new Karbala”, he advocates his native fellows to
make the cause of the Hussain (R.A) their own. Josh began elegy with protest and resistance. That is why protesting
behaviours against imperial forces, capitalists, social corruption and dictatorship are to be seen is in the poetry of josh
maleeh abadi.
