Abstract

The concept of "Khudi" occupies a central position among all the concepts or ideas of Iqbal. All other concepts of Iqbal are like interpretations of this theory of "Khudi". In short, the root of Iqbal's thought is this philosophy of "Khudi". According to Iqbal,"Khudi" means self-realization, self-understanding or self-awareness. Iqbal's philosophy is mainly influenced by Islamic teachings. To Iqbal, the word "Khudi"  and the word "Bekhudi" are used in the same sense. "Khudi"(self-realization) relates to individual self,whereas the concept of "Bekhudi" refers to the society. Iqbal wants an individual to strengthen itself and then it should become a cause of the strength of the society.
