Abstract

This comparative study explores the concept of economic development from two distinct
perspectives: modern economic standards and Islamic economic principles. In an era marked by
globalization and diverse economic ideologies, understanding different approaches to economic
development is essential. This research delves into the theoretical foundations and practical
implications of both modern and Islamic economic frameworks, shedding light on their
similarities, differences, and potential areas of convergence .The study begins by examining the
core principles of modern economic development, focusing on concepts such as GDP growth,
market capitalism, and globalization. It assesses the strengths and limitations of this approach,
considering issues of income inequality, environmental sustainability, and social justice .In
contrast, the research also investigates Islamic economic standards, drawing from the teachings
of the Quran and Hadith. It explores Islamic finance, Zakat (charitable giving), and the
prohibition of usury (Riba), highlighting their significance in promoting economic justice and
stability. The study emphasizes the ethical and moral dimensions inherent in Islamic economic
principles.By comparing these two perspectives, this research aims to identify common ground
and potential synergies between modern economic development and Islamic economic
standards. It discusses how integrating ethical considerations and social justice principles from
Islamic economics into the modern economic framework could lead to a more inclusive and
sustainable approach to development. The findings of this study contribute to the ongoing
discourse on economic development by presenting a comprehensive analysis of these two
contrasting paradigms. The exploration of potential convergence points offers insights that can
inform policymakers, economists, and scholars in their efforts to create more equitable and
sustainable economic systems in a rapidly changing global landscape.
